Local police chief indicted after Uzi death of boy - The longtime police chief of a small Western Massachusetts town was one of three people indicted today on involuntary manslaughter charges for the death of an 8-year-old boy who fatally shot himself with a machine gun at a weapons exposition in Westfield. Only two minority judges from Governor Patrick – In an interview with the Boston Globe, Patrick admits that his track record for appointing minority judges is worse than his three Republican predecessors.  

Connolly yells at prosecutor; Judge postpones sentencing - A Florida judge postponed the sentencing today of former FBI agent John J. Connolly Jr. after the defense argued that his second-degree murder conviction should be thrown out because the statute of limitations expired years ago on the 1982 slaying. (Boston Globe)

Prop 2. date set, confusion runs rampant – It’s official: possession of up to an ounce of marijuana won’t be a criminal offense after January 2, 2009. But state law enforcement officials don’t know how they’ll deal with the new law. (The Republican)
