Dentist Says Fondling Breasts Was a Medical Treatment
January 23, 2009
A California dentist accused of fondling the breasts of dozens of female patients was merely trying to give them physical therapy to relieve their jaw pain, his lawyer told a courtroom.
Dentist Mark Anderson, 49, “bumbled along as best he could” and was “perhaps just dumb,” but he only wanted to give the women free massages that he thought would be helpful because chest and facial muscles are connected, said his lawyer, Michael Rothschild.
But this is unlikely given that Anderson told one woman she had nice breasts, complimented another on her breast augmentation, and apologized to a third by sending her a card with “a cartoon picture of a bunny rabbit” on the front that said, “Oops,” according to Deputy District Attorney Robert Gorman.
Rothschild assured court that all of Anderson’s 27 accusers have psychological problems, have “foggy recollections,” or are “out to make a buck.”
